Welcome to the 28th edition of | Focus |, a photographic journal of innovative designs, combining wood with an emphasis on architecture, interior design and fashion.
This month | Focus | features “Casa Delta”
The talented Brazilian-based architects Bernardes Arquitetura have designed and built a beautiful bespoke home to accommodate to the needs of a couple and their three young active children. Casa Delta is located only one and a half hours from São Paulo in Brazil and is built over 1,000sq.m (10,760sq.ft) of sloping terrain. This beautiful wooden home is integrated into the natural landscape, which is surrounded by an important Atlantic Forest reserve with glorious sea views. An important conceptual aspect of the project is the desire to provide the spaces with a certain ambiguity by attenuating the boundaries between “inside” and “outside”. The entrance is located from the car park on the bottom level, a wide staircase climbs up across the first floor and onto the terrace where the social areas and master suite are. The first floor houses the rooms of the children and guests quarters while the terrace accommodates the master suite and other communal living areas. The terrace has been designed specifically for the couple, so that their bedroom quarters on the second floor may be closed off for more privacy. The upper level of this home is the most spectacular part of Casa Delta. The layout of the bedrooms on different levels was to let the house adapt to the existing terrain in a subtle fashion. The large wooden sunscreen panels help give extended privacy to the bedrooms and other living areas of the home. The timber sunscreens guide your attention towards the horizon, where the infinity pool gives the illusion that the pool is part of the ocean. The residential experience of this home is privacy as well as being able to enjoy the nature surrounding the home from the forest reserve to the sea front.
